This week was mostly focused on the second module of a dedicated Jonah programme for two employees of an Italian customer based in Milan.
The Jonah arrived having completed the activities needed to verify their current reality analysis the core conflict developed on that subject. One of the participants had not only verified his work in module one but repeated the process on a different subject matter as well. He said practice is needed so why not repeat the whole process. The other Jonah who started with much less knowledge about TOC had read more on TOC including all of Its Not Luck. These two managers are very good students and they have obtained some good input during the verification process about what needs to be put in place as a solution.

Module two is always very difficult as it is necessary to logically explain the future reality you want to create. It requires starting form the identification of the core Problem responsible for all the UdE and identification of the DE they want to replace the UdE. Once the Core Problem is agreed it is necessary to find a starting direction that resolves the core problem and that you feel is strong enough that achieve all the DE. We tend to call the starting direction an Injection but in many cases when the Jonah starts to construct the solution the starting direction is explained and created by the early parts of the Future Reality Analysis. Hence the starting Direction (Injection) disappears, or is replaced by the additional Injections identified as the FR is constructed. This often as it did this week causes some confusion for the student Jonah.
However, after some discussion and clarification the Jonah’s completed their Core Future Reality and went on to link this to all the Desirable Effects creating the full Future Reality Analysis. The Jonah’s are now going to show their work to other in the company to verify the work and to surface the concerns that other have with the direction being suggested. This work will go on over the next three or fur weeks and we will reconvene in January to complete module three. In module three they will analyse the concerns and add future Injections to cut trim the concerns. This will make the FR robust and enable the Jonah to begin working on the implementation planning, which will be completed during February before Module four that is planned for the end of February.
So far the signs are good the opportunity identified by these two Jonah as they learn the TOC Thinking Process skills is in excess of 70 million Euro. Not bad to end the year on.
